Well, maybe not all of them but I did just buy one share. It's the only NFL franchise publicly owned. Thet are planning some improvements at Lambeau and they sold some stock to help pay for that. I'm expecting a call any day now to ask me to be on their Board of Directors.

Growing up in NW Wisconsin, I was always a Green Bay fan and still am to this day. We've been blessed with superior quuarterback play from Starr, to Favre to now Rodgers. Not sure what the future holds but it's exciting to watch right now.

My gut tells me Rodgers may be contemplating retirement but I surely hope not. It's a team for sure but he's what makes the offense go and he's a lot of fun to watch.

Congrats!

You should black out your address, etc. You own too many nice guitars.

Very cool, Richard! I wonder how the NFL feels about public team ownership...

The NFL is obviously fine with it. Part of the reason is that when you strip away the emotional components of "owing the Packers" the organization, in day to day practice and operations, is not significantly different from an NFL team owned by a small handful of people.

See https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-offering-300-ownership-shares-first-10-years

I think it is pretty neat to "own" a piece of the Packers but I have no illusions that doing so gives me financial benefits or a say in how the team operates.

Maybe what I'm thinking of would be the other team owners rather than the NFL itself. In any case, I totally agree that it's pretty neat to own a piece of your team. My understanding is that the Red Sox tried to do something like this, but it didn't work out. I'm not a lunatic fan, but I would love to own a piece of the Sox. :)

IMO, this is how all pro sports franchises should be, and stadiums owned and operated by the regional park system. (just like Lambau)

I take pride in that the German Bundesliga soccer league is bound by a rule that each team's majority ownership be it's supporters. Recently, when several of Europe's biggest clubs proposed to start a "Super League", based purely on owner's greed/club popularity, and not by concurrent on field merit, it was basically the Bundesliga and it's majority owning supporters that wound up throwing cold water on the whole idea. I only wish the NFL were like this. You'd likely still be able to afford bringing your whole family to a game.

My 10 minutes of searching suggests that most NFL owners don't have a problem with Green Bay and its ownership structure. Maybe it's because of the local market but I hear many more complains about Dan Snyder :)

Richard, do you remember Paul Hornung and Bart Starr? Now that was probably the greatest Green Bay Packer team of all time.

My sincere condolences, Richard.......

We's don't likes dem packers here in Minnie!
Understood, and the feeling is mutual, believe me when it comes to the Vikes. I really did like to watch the old power house Vikes though with the Purple People Eaters etc. This currnt Vikes team scares me a lot. They have a boatload of talent and their QB is underappreciated I think. I am worried about this weeks game with the Vikes. They could really mess things up for us.

Sure do Rich. And, let's not forget Jim Taylor, Hornung's running mate/blocking back.
I went to Beloit College, and therefore became a Packers fan. They were practically unbeatable. Yes, I remember Jim Taylor, now that you mention him. There were many "greats" on the team. And, boy, those snowy games they had to suffer through. But the fans were super.

The Packers had good snow plows for Lambau Field when "they deemed necessary."
Jim Taylor - What a blocker and he could get a yard on sheer determination.
And the Colts and Johnny Unitas. No "girly rules" to protect the quarterback.
Don't take me wrong - I think the rule changes to protect the players is good - but for 50 years they did not exist.
