"THE BRIDGE TUNNEL IN VIRGINIA USA"

When pondering someone's eccentricities, one would do well to consider their environment.

We drove that thing summer before last while on a cross country trip to visit our daughter. The skinny lanes in the tunnel kinda creeped me out. Sure glad I hadn’t seen this picture first!

You might find yourself more uncomfortable with the extreme height of the Royal Gorge Bridge than the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. It's really no big deal when you drive on it, and in fact, it's pretty cool!
Yeah, once in a while I got a nightmare about driving up a bridge that kept getting steeper and steeper, but I was afraid to put on too much speed 'cause I didn't want to "get air" at at the top and maybe go over the side....what to do, what to do?
And the picture alone is disturbing.
So.....had any good road trips lately?

My phobias tend to deal with heights which makes a road that goes over a lot of water problematic.

If I have the opportunity I avoid various bridges. If I don't, I tend to be in a middle or left lane with white knuckles, struggling to maintain speed. For some of you I am definitely That Guy.

Tunnels aren't nearly the same problem and the biggest issue with the Baltimore tunnels dates from the days before Google Maps. Baltimore was an obstacle, not a destination and the travel time to points outside the Baltimore beltway varied considerably depending upon which tunnel had the traffic or accidents.

I’m with you Frono. I don’t like bridges at all and have to be on the inside. When hiking I cannot go any where near the edge of a cliff though I love the view from up high. That bridge picture just creeps me out. Maybe some kind of survival instinct.

It is weird, however, that I have no problems in an airplane, but would never sky dive. I would jump at the chance without hesitation to go into outer space.
