We got maybe a foot in oyster bay/cold spring harbor. Not quite a blizzard but it still would have been disastrous if they didn't make everyone stay home. Sadly, no one around here knows how to drive *or* plow roads. I got the day off yesterday and played some guitar and went cross country skiing. After living in Colorado and upstate NY yes it is a joke the way snow cripples society down here. Schools are still closed (day 2) because roads weren't plowed and busses can't pick up kids. The city didn't get hit so bad so I'll probably be back in the big apple tomorrow or over the weekend. Or back up north to ski some of this epic apocalypse blizzard snow!

Oh gosh Joe, I'd have gotten out of Houston too. My bonus daughter lives in downtown Houston. Not my favorite trip.

It's just an old joke.
I left to begin the rest of my life. I was in a stall in Houston and when opportunity knocked, I answered the door.

Wasn't a straight leap to get here, but 38 years later, here I am! :triumphant:

Tejas does not have much in the way of greenery, most of the time. Just that little bit in the spring.

Really? The entire eastern part of the state is referred to as "The Piney Woods".............evergreens everywhere. : ) I live in the middle of the Piney Woods.

I was in Austin. Of course, I live in Pa, where plant growth runs rampant! If It weren't for the deer, we'd be living in the jungle! ;-D

Jersey has the Pine barrens too. Pine trees and sand. Interesting scenery, but pine trees kill all the ground cover and wildflowers, not to mention the wild blackberries. I have a great park near me that has egrets and other wading birds, foxes, porcupines and all sorts of other small mammals. It's a great place to live. :-D

West,
If you don't mind I would like to barrow that phrase. It's just so positive!
At work I deal often with "bonus children" and their "bonus parent."
