I do believe today I played the finest guitar I've ever held. It's a Taylor & I'm sorry for my blasphemy. If anyone gets a chance to play one of these do not pass it up.

Taylor GS Koa, was offered to me for a mere $3999.00, tax negotiable & was sorely tempting. This one was is different from anything else in the house, unplugged, plugged, either way, plugged in to $1400's worth of Fender it's a freaking religious experience. Yep, the total tab as played was $5200 & change.

The shop where I trade normally stocks better than a dozen Taylors, maybe two dozen & I've played most of them, with one or two high dollar exceptions haven't been unduly tempted. This freaking Taylor is one big long sweet spot wherever it's touched, everywhere, absolutely beautiful thing.

Maybe I'll take a second look at my Account Statement, could be I overlooked a sell opportunity, criminy!!!

For that kind of money, I'd get the 50's F40 that was recently linked to on here, and go on a nice little holiday with what's left!

Oh my!! I didn't know Guitar porn was allowed here!
Thats one pretty guitar! I am looking at having another guitar built this year out of Koa as well. Still at the wait and see stage. I like Taylor guitars. Very innovative neck joint and good details.

Very nice Jeff! Koa can be very tempting. After playing several Taylor koa models, I ended up ordering a GC-K this spring. About 3 months later I had this in my hands.

These pics are a bit washed out, but this honey colored koa is just wonderful to look at. Oh, and it sounds great too!

Super Beauty there, Jeff!
BTW: Clint Black has 3 KOA PS12c's for sale at George Gruhn's shop for around $4000 each, and they're listed as extra fine.
Since we're spouting about our infidelity.............

I've also sinned this past summer.

I haven't played a koa GS, but I adore my maple GS. That said, I am more taken with my F50R, and I will probably sell the maple GS before long.

The GS is a terrific line from Taylor. Just my opinion. :)

I love Taylors and I love Guilds. This is my current Taylor 12 string, but despite my love for this guitar I do want a Guild F512!!! There is enough love in my heart to go around!

The Taylor GS's & GA's are nice, but once I found my Guild D25NT, all thoughts of trying to fund a Taylor(or Martin) for twice or three times the price were gone. A Taylor with the Striped Ebony back was possibly the nicest guit I've tried, though(at around $6000).

Taylors and Guilds have very different sounds; like chocolate and vanilla, one's not better, but they're different. In my experience, you won't find a Taylor that sounds like a Guild. This past summer, I got to play some very high-end Taylors ($8 to $11 thousand) that were custom ordered by the music store. They sounded like Taylors, and not much different from the standard stock models.

None of them sounded like my D-55.

Actually, my favorite is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough,

so I consider both chocolate and vanilla to be boring.

Still have most of the non-removeable variety, if I don't get too carried away with eating the hard stuff! :)
