The '98 DCE1 showed up today. More to come...

Initial thoughts:

Pretty much EXACTLY what I had in mind (although I wasn't necessarily looking for an acoustic/electric.) Paid what I was willing to spend and got pretty much twice the guitar for half the price.

The neck is hefty and well-shaped. Not as thin as I had thought it might be.

Not a fan of gold in general but the color scheme works on this one. Guild tuners.

A couple marks but in really good condition.

Needs a setup: a couple frets are a bit uneven. Might drop the action a bit.

SUSTAIN - this thing rings forever.

Tones are well balanced low to high.

That's all for now.

Of course I would rather have had the D25 West tried to sell, or the DV-52 I tried to negotiate to buy, but this DCE1 suits my needs (as I talked about in other threads) just fine. For the price and what I would use an acoustic for, this one fills the bill perfectly!

For now, crappy cell phone pics:

Qvart, congrats!!! Looks great!

Hey, what happened to that label?

It's got a couple air bubbles in it. Looks like it's coming loose a little, but nothing has happened to it that I can tell. Still looks good. I'll use a better camera sometime for pics.

**I looked at the picture again. It looks bad in the picture because of the light reflections. All the print is actually there.

This is a proud day for all of us. Glad to hear it worked out as well as we both expected. I wouldn't try this through that Marshall of yours...

Congratulations!

I owned a DCE1 for a number of years and actually regret selling it. It was a great live guitar and surprisingly it was an excellent guitar for recording. You've done very well. And I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about the D25 . . . you basically just bought yourself a D25 electric.

Thanks guys! Quit a few responses while I was off slaving away for the man! Or manager. Oh wait, I'm the manager. Dammit!

From what I could tell it was basically a D25 with a cutaway and a Fishman, or a D4 as they are the same. I've held D4's and D25's in my hands so I felt comfortable buying this one without trying it out.

As for the Marshall ........ holy feedback Batman! I'll have to experiment with them together and see if they can reach a compromise.

The only thing that needs work that I can tell is the frets. There are some uneven spots and buzzing so I'm going to have it set up better. And I'll definitely need to add an upper strap button. Maybe drop the action a bit, but as it is the action is sorta medium and pretty comfortable without anymore tweaking. We'll see.

The best part of it is my housemate has a more expensive Larivee (that he got really cheap) that he loves and every time he picks up my Guild he goes on and on about the neck. It really does feel great and plays like butter (to rehash an overused simile).

Even though it's not the greatest eye candy of the Guild world, I am incapable of acquiring a guitar without taking a bunch of pictures, like they're my kids or something. I guess in a way they are seeing as how they make me forget about the kids at work. Excuse me, I mean "employees." So there will be more pics before long.

Oops, this was supposed to be an edit, not a response.

I got the kids to sit still long enough to take a pic. That's Jack on the right. The other on the left is some new kid intruding upon Jack's realm.

Nice score, enjoy!

You mean it's not a rock machine like my S-100's? Damn. Maybe that's why the Marshall hates it! ;)

No, I'll let my mellow alter ego play it. Promise. The side of me that doesn't end posts with

\m/ -_- \m/

Ease into it slow Q.......ya don't want to throw your system into shock. Maybe try something like the Nine Inch Nails version of "Hurt" before attempting the Cash version......
