Yeah, it finally arrived. I had a few bucks that were burning a hole in my pocket, so I dropped a few of them on a new-to-me guitar. And I mean just a few -- I didn't want to blow a bunch of dough since I've really already got my dream guitars. Don't really need another one, but you know how that goes.
So it's a Guild 12-string, of course. 400 bucks! How can that be? Well, because it's a glossy mahogany over mahogany all solid GAD D125-12NAT! Neck is satin. I guess I got kind of mesmerized by that flamey/stripey mahogany front and back. I think it's cool looking! Even the rosewood fingerboard (I think it's rosewood) is nice and dark with cool looking streaks, same as the bridge. Even came with an original Guild-badged case. I think I got a good deal.
It even sounds pretty darn good. It's a 12-string! It needs new strings (came with a new set), and the action is a bit high, so I think I'll have a local luthier give it a good low setup. Just eyeballing it, I was pretty worried about the neck angle. I thought it looked pretty bad. But when I (finally found and) laid my metal ruler down the fretboard, hey, not bad at all! Maybe 1/64" low, which I'd say is within spec.
My pics came out pretty bad (although I think I captured the color better), so I included a couple of the seller's. I like the look!
