When money was no object and a urgent solution required...(Method not recommended for the the typical musician.)

I suggest 1)installing a roll of cloth under the strings after the bridge and 2) some under the strings running to the Guildsby.
Then if it is still to loud 3) add f-shaped piece of foam to the body cutouts. I think these can also be purchased.

I had kids a year and a half apart, too. My wife was afraid that they would wake each other up if they shared a bedroom, but they immediately got used to each other's noises and slept right through them. I think your kids will adjust to your acoustic playing, too, especially if you play regularly. I was always worried about not disturbing the family so I almost never played or listened to music while my kids were growing up, and now I think they should have heard more music in our home.

I have a vague memory of reading an article about african villages with special sleeping houses - people went to sleep on that house/shelter whenever - meanwhile other people proceeded their chores etc. The point was, that silence is not the thing - but if while sleeping some totally unusual would sound, then they would wake up.

Makes perfect sence to me - if the child is used to hear the other family members talking - washing dishes - playing music - etc when going to sleep - then all that background soundscape is normal and not at all alarming. If a fight starts w loud voices - that is different.

So - in case it is not too late - just teach the child to sleep while your guitar gently weeps . . . 🎸

Nuuska and Hammer. That’s a great point! We do listen to a lot of music together. My biggest concern is “sudden” noises. A sudden change in dynamics, etc. they’re pretty good sleepers but will occasionally wake up to something sudden. it’s entirely possible that this problem is WAY bigger in my head than in reality. My daughter (4months) will sleep through me playing acoustic and singing (poorly) while we’re in the same room.

I haven’t found a good solution yet for quieting the acoustic volume of my starfire. But I appreciate everyone’s ideas an inputs. It’s very helpful.

Are the kids in the room right next to where you practice? Interior non insulated walls are terrible for sound control. Maybe your solution is a few of these....placed on the wall opposite of the kid's room.

being 4x8 panels, w/ carpet/padding in a room, might require trimming a bit off the top so they fit snug. Nothing permanently installed...unless if you wanted to prime/paint the exposed side. That would definitely help a lot.

Thanks for all the help. I wasn’t able to really find a solution for any of this. But my immediate problem has ended as my kiddos haven’t been waking up lately to my practicing. I guess they’re old enough to not be bothered by it any more? Or so it seems.

How about picking up one of the new Surfliners?
