I know this must have been discussed here before but I can't find it.

Question is, how many total D25's did Guild produce? I think more than any other model.

A lot. Could be their most popular acoustic model up until it was discontinued.

I think it was the only model that was consistently offered in the Westerly era. Because they made them even in the Corona California era. The D-35 was introduced the same time as the D-25 and it got sacked in 87’. I know the D-40 and possibly the D-50 also had a slight hiatus IIRC

is a slightly different take on the question.

We are never going to have a good reliable answer because they were produced at several factories. Publicly available data for Westerly is incomplete and virtually nonexistent for the other locations.

Same applied to the GAD series. Bill Acton (who was the first Guild marketing manager in 1995 after Fender purchased Guild!) mentioned at the NAMM 2013 show that the D-125 model would be the highest running model in the GAD series.

Maybe how many Westerly D25's were built is a more relevant question?
You could get a pretty fair idea via serial numbers, as far as just Westerly built D25's. I tried it, and it's a bit difficult to decipher, but the best I can tell, it looks like something like 17,000 D25's were built at Westerly. I just added them up in my head and didn't write the totals from the different years of production and add them up. But there were a bunch. It's kind of hard to do because some years there just an "X" in the D25 slot like there were none made that year. Then other years, they changed their serial number system.

Could you though since in the entirety of the 70’s the serial numbers were just sequential regardless of model?

But at Westerly for a time, the D4's and D25's were lumped in together with no differentiation. Isn't that true? So you're gonna have to include D4's to get any kind of accurate number. That's what I remember, anyway....

I think the take away is we won’t get an accurate number 😕
That was the take away the last several times we tried to answer the question. The answer is not going to change unless Hans publishes Volume II or otherwise chooses to release what he knows or someone else with access to factory records chimes in.
