I'm not sure I would feel particularly comfortable driving while coffee brewed in something hanging off my dash, or with hot coffe in a cup with no lid. For goodness sake, don't hit a pothole!

There was a Made In Germany coffee-maker that had a hook that mounted on side window and plugged into cigarette lighter socket. It could be loaded at home and when brewed the bottom cup would unscrew .

While searching for a picture of it I noticed that there are many modern coffeemakers for car.

Personally I prefer not to drink & drive. . . . - Coffee w LTG on the other hand 🐾 🐾 🐾

Back then things were different. Little kids sat on their dad’s lap and drove in a car without seatbelts.

Also, this:

I have moved from drip maker to french press a couple days ago to try to drink less. It's "sort of" working.
Mrs. Cougar is giving me crap about how much coffee I drink, claiming it's not healthy. Is this really a health thing? (Same with caffeine free diet Coke. What's wrong with that?)

Nah. I mean it can cause some health issues but it depends on the individual. It’s easy to tell when I have had too much coffee in a day. I am trying to get better sleep, so me cutting back is a good thing. My goal is 4 cups a day. But everyone is different.

I had three in a diner today. The waitress just kept refilling me, and I kept guzzling it down. That's what a waitress should do. Last weekend, I had to ask the waitress repeatedly for refills. I hate that.

Seems silly to have such a large maker just for me. About to start in on a new roast too. Local coffee outfit called Battle Born. They do it out of their house. This is a Costa Rican blend. That’s a 5 pound bag. Lol.

Diet soda is poison. You’re infinitely better off with sugar.

As with anything, the dose is the poison, so I’d say with coffee it depends on how much.

For me coffee is a gateway drug for sugar and that’s where I get into trouble.

Excerpted from "Stress", a song by Jim Infantino:

I'm trying to cut down on my caffeine consumption
So when I get up I just have one cup of coffee
And I like to have another cup of coffee with my breakfast
And on the way to work I like to get a cup of coffee
Like the kind of cup of coffee that you get with the donuts
But I never get the donut, I just have the cup of coffee
And when I get to work I like to have a cup of coffee
'Cause I like to have a coffee when I'm talking on the phone
But it usually goes cold and I need to get another cup of coffee
And it's lunch, and I have an espresso

(My favorite version of this is on the compilation "This is Boston, Not Austin Vol 1")

You can find a study that can pretty much validate anything you want. I really like coffee so I use studies like this to convince myself, and others like my wife, that I am being healthy! Hey, it’s from The Harvard Gazette so it’s got to be true, right?

Hmm. It must be a pretty slow acting poison. I've been drinking it for years and haven't doubled over like you see poisoned guys on TV... or foamed at the mouth like Quinn on Homeland....

Yeah, as a semi-scientifically minded sort, that's a little disconcerting, but in this case... liberating. 😁

My dad noticed that his grandmother averaged fourteen cups of coffee a day and asked her if it kept her awake.

She gave him a tired nod and said, "It helps."
Reminds me if my grandmother who grew up in Great Depression. Do coffee was one of the commodities one could buy or share or barter for. And they drank it weak to make it last. Her coffee was always percolating, all day and into the night. It was terrible coffee except I drank it with due to the historical significance and she was tough. Sone things you learn as a kid you never grow out of. My mom would also drink her coffee out of respect, then we’d stop at a coffee shop on way home to get a redeye.

I am back on a pot a day. Which is 6 cups.
Will look at curbing the intake another year...
