I’m not trying to change one’s mind on buying used though I am a pro at it and at getting burned . Lol

What I will say is that having bought bought / traded guitars here only 2 though . I can say from my experience and from others here not one long standing member of LTG has screwed over another one that I’m aware of unless there was a newbie member involved that I don’t know about .

Experiencing this I wish there was more of a verity of guitar sales here as all of my guitars would have been purchased here .

Then of course if anyone tried to screw me over here they would be in fear of a lifetime of Ray Speak , not something many would want to endure !

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Stonehauler...

Most of the members here are well-versed in the purchase of used guitars we're more than happy (delighted really) to enable others to do the same. I'd even take that a step further in that many members aren't even interested in new guitars any more. There certainly would not be an LTG if it weren't for almost 70 years of Guild history behind us!

I will point out the one flaw in your logic. With most used things, age generally implies something of less intrinsic value; new is usually better. With string instruments, that's just not true.

Having said that... You do you, stone. Don't be swayed to do something different unless it's something you want to jump into, enablers be damned!! :)

Keep us posted!

Hi,

No worries. That is way far to drive. If you ever visit your brother, however, I am a bit over 3 hours south, so not really too convenient then either.

I will probably keep it and play it a while. I just happened to see your post and wanted to see if you were interested before I unpack it and give it a whirl.

To you guys who posted about used string instruments, I have always heard that older ones were better--wood and all being involved. And, on the honesty thing, it would be foolish for someone to try that on this site, IMO. With Tom as a reference, I figured anyone who might be seriously interested would know that was something they could confirm before showing any serious interest.

However, the world is full of rather odd scams and lies these days--some more reprehensible than others, I might say.

Well, time to give it a play. Eventually, I will put it up for sale on the board here. It is an expensive instrument to buy new--even the street price is pretty steep at @ $4400, so you know Guild ain't giving them away! I would assume any potential buyer would know what they were looking at and make an intelligent decision to purchase THIS instrument over another after careful consideration.

Naturally, I would take it back if the buyer was not pleased for whatever reason. (I have spent some time with REAL musicians, so nothing they might say or do would surprise me...being artists and all.)

Cheers!

Richard

The F-412 fingerboard is rosewood, but the neck itself is maple. In the new model, the fingerboard is ebony and the neck is mahogany 2-piece with a walnut center strip.

Cheers!

If they have been holding you back all that time -Id demand a full refund.
but thats me . Why cordoba is holding back is beyond me -
their are alot of guitars out their, and alot of this BS doesnt fly with me .
Their are alot of guitars out their - you should not be treated like your dealing with a custom
builder .

Yes the Maple would be my choice as well , but I have other stuff to play -I hate games !

Sorry, not really selling now, as I posted, but a person did post he wanted one, so I thought I would just see if he was PERSONALLY interested, but he was not, so I posted that I am NOT selling now but will post in FOR SALE when I am.

This now went to a longer discussion about materials, etc., so sorry about that.

Cheers,

Richard

richopp, can we see a picture of your fingerboard? I thought all F-412s had ebony fingerboards.
You are probably correct. It is still in the package from Tom--I have been sick again, unfortunately--but I think pics are on the forum somewhere, but may not be. I would post one, but since I am not selling right now, that would break Forum rules, it seems. It definitely could be ebony as the new ones are, but I have not seen or played it in a long time, so I actually forget. I defer to your deeper knowledge and will now assume it is ebony.

Sorry for the confusion. Last time I saw it, I thought it was rosewood, but I bought it in 1984 and have not played it in many years, unfortunately.

Cheers!

I was confused about whether an instrument was being offered for sale, or not. I also wondered if there was an attempt to sneak around the "post or pay" rule for FS. But that has all been straightened out. I'm not sure there is any Forum rule being broken. I especially want to note that posting pictures for bragging or historical or informational purposes is encouraged.

Feel better, richopp!
Thank-you. I have the "there is nothing wrong with you" disease despite numerous debilitating symptoms and several ER visits. The last Dr. refused to even have me as a patient, so, the fun continues.

As I always note, 50% of physicians graduated in the bottom 1/2 of their class, so...

Cheers!

OK, well, if this breaks a rule, someone please remove it; this is the closest one I have that shows the fret board:

Richopp, that's a standard, ebony fretboard for an F-412. Best wishes.
Got it. Sorry for being wrong, but glad you all know a lot more than I do!

As I remember, ebony is "slicker" (tighter-grained) than rosewood, but does not have the pretty grain or colors. Makes it easier to play for a REAL musician, which I am not, unfortunately...

Cheers!

:) Ebony can be flat black or can have light colors mixed in. These days, the straight, black ebony that you're used to is much rarer than it used to be. Personally, I like the ebony with the streaks of lighter wood.

As for taste... Some folks like it for the fingerboard (over rosewood), but personally I love 'em both. Rosewood likes a little oil treatment (in my opinion) once a year or so or it gets really light colored and dried out. Same with rosewood bridges, as Guild doesn't finish over fingerboards or bridges.

Again, hope you feel better soon.
