Our house isn’t old, 28 years, but it was built on the land of and old farm that dates back 300 years. We’ve always had “things” going on...shadows moving across rooms, noises coming from unoccupied rooms, items being moved from one spot to another. More recently my wife has been alone upstairs and a female voice behind her called her name, she is positive the first voice was her mom. We’ve also had empty glasses not placed near a tables edge fall to the floor and break, empty wine bottles fall over. We’ve had numerous items disappear then reappear later in places we know we looked for them.

This past week my daughter stopped by, she is just finishing a difficult semester in her doctoral studies. I went up to the attic to retrieve a rug, and lying in the middle of the walkway was a letter my mom wrote to my daughter in 2000 saying how proud she was of her good work in school. Absolutely no reason for the letter to be there, in fact I don’t know why we still had it.

We lost power on Monday due to a wild wind/rain storm. When the power came back on a few hours later, a mechanical wind up music box started playing in the room my wife and I were sitting in...it hadn’t been wound in over a year. The next day I was in my office working and a 1940’s era Soviet mechanical clock I have sitting on a shelf started ticking, same deal, hadn’t been wound in a very long time.

My wife claims to have actually seen some of our “friends”.

How about you...care to share your experiences?

I am sure there are "experts" that have a "valid" explaination for all your "happenings" but I choose to believe we have Angels all around us everyday. Yours seem to like glassware, wine, and musical chimes. In my case, it is someone who just appears in my life and makes it better.
And congratulations on your daughter's doctoral - soon to be - degree.
I will pass on to her what my old college advisor passed on to me. He said, "this degree will help you get a job, it will NOT KEEP you a job - that will be up to YOU."

....How about you...care to share your experiences?

Long, long time ago, I was in the Peace Corps in Kenya, essentially on the other side of the world. A good friend of mine in the States had a girlfriend who I liked a lot. Some time before I left she had tried to kill herself, but she survived. We had all gone hiking some time after that, and she seemed fine.

Anyway, I'd been in Kenya about a year and I got a sudden urge to write my friend's girlfriend, tell her about my experiences, but also to tell her that, you know, I really loved her. A few weeks after that, I got a letter back. From her mother, saying she'd succeeded in killing herself and thanking me for my friendship. The timing was that she must have died about the time I was writing to her.

I am firmly in the "show me" camp and am a huge skeptic, but I also believe there are things we are yet to understand. That's why I choose "show me" over "that couldn't happen".

As you all might guess from my name here I also am a mentalist and "spirit" magician so I know all the tricks of the trade. On the occasions when something
of a "supernatural" nature has happened to me, I can usually find simple "natural" explanations for the event. However, there have been a number of times when for one reason or another I can't fully explain something away. For example, once in the early '80s I was in the living room thinking, staring at the blank
screen of our Zenith TV when I saw a dark figure reflected on the glass, moving behind our sofa upon which our two Basenjis were sleeping. I got that "hair on the back of the neck raising" thing, and knew if I turned to look I would see something--the shadow on the screen would have been at that point moving
down the hall. Just as I finally turned I of course saw nothing--but at that same instant the dogs both awoke and looked down the hall as if to follow the shadowy figure's movement. Had they not done that I would have merely assumed I was trancing out, falling into a waking dream state. So at least I had two
other witnesses to the occurrence, and there had been no sounds to wake them. When things like this happen they at least give me song ideas!

Actually, Walrus, I kinda got it from the Bible:

Hebrews 13:2 "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."

Were you to dig, you might find evidence of life there going back a lot farther than 300 years. According to archeological evidence, Clovis people reached the Americas about 11.500 years ago.

Which begs the question. Do we only see the ghost of our "own" ancestors.

We bought my parents' house, a 1915 Folk Victorian in '92 after my parents owned it for 20+ years. My dad loved that house and was always working on some project or another. He passed away in '06, and not long after we starting hearing footsteps and creaking floorboards in the attic. Occasionally we'd hear a bedroom door close or I'd find tools moved around in the workshop in the basement. We assumed it was my dad returning to spend a little time in the place he loved, and I started saying "Hey, Pop!" when something like that happened. Lasted for a couple of years, and I was kind of sad when it stopped.

We used to hear banging sounds coming from our basement, I thought it might be the metal in our old furnace expanding and contracting, then one day when I was down there I heard the sound again but the furnace wasn't even on. I found the cat was crawling around on top of the duct work in the space between the floor joists; the sound was made by the sheet metal flexing under the cat's weight. Drove me nuts for quite a while until I figured it out.

We had weird things happening in our last house, mostly in the same bedroom. It started getting really weird when my youngest son moved into the room. Bathing slime the comforter folded down neatly in the middle of the night. Books moved. Etc. we set us a motion activated camera and got some footage of “orbs” flying around the room. They would split into 2 or 3, and then merge back into one. One video shows a “light “ that appears to come out of the closet. When it gets down to the floor it appears to turn sprout wings, then it quickly leaves the screen. Do I believe? Oh yes!
Don’t know if I can PM a video, but Antney, if you want, I’ll try to send it to you.

I've experienced enough weird stuff in life to be accepting of unusual or unexplained things. If you've heard of Streetlight Interference it's a real thing with me. Count how many times in your life you've been under a streetlight and had it go off on you. What number do you get? Twice? Ten times? With me it's thousands and thousands. I can't control it but I've driven down streets and serially turned lights off over and over. Don thought I was crazy but there's just no way to explain it away by chance. Last night on our way back from Panevino I shut down 5-7 streetlights on the short drive home. It's a thing.

I also have a thing for names. It's totally random and useless as a party trick but names pop into my head. This one lady was talking about her grandmother and the third time she mentioned "grandmother" I blurted out, "Evelyn!" Her eyes got so big and she was like, "How the HELL do you know my grandmother's name??" And i don't know how. The really pretty girl that worked at the tanning salon (back when I did such things) was so nice and we'd chat all the time but for the life of me I could not remember her name. Finally, I just apologised and said, "I know you've told me your name at least five times but it just won't stick and I know it's not right but I want to call you Page." Again with the big eyes!! She said, "I moved here to get into acting and changed my name. I wrote two names on a piece of paper and one was Jordan (which she picked) and the other one was Page!!" I said, well, I think you picked the wrong name. That's just two weird occurances of many over the years.

Call me crazy. Go ahead, I'm used to it..... LOL!!!

This is the first time I ever heard of Street Light Interference as a thing! I've been swearing I've had that for years and everyone has pooh, poohed it! Hmmm....
