Hound Dog Taylor and Sun House

Shakeylee expressed an interest in my avatar, a painting of The great Hound Dog Taylor done by a now departed friend of mine.
I thought some of you might enjoy a better view. Also by the same artist, Marion Holquin, is her portrait of The mighty Son House. SH is currently owned by my long time guitar buddy, and hangs in his house in San Diego.
Marion was a very talented artist who, due to economic necessity, mostly painted portraits of rich people, their pets and scenes that rich people would buy. She really enjoyed painting both these portraits. Needless to say, my buddy and I were exacting about getting the guitars correct.

so wasn’t da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raphael, and most other artists. Very nice work, where can we see more of it?

Alas, these two are the only paintings of hers I know the whereabouts of.

Love both these guys.

After Hound Dog died his band became J.B. Hutto's accompanists. Hutto, like Hound Dog, was another player in the Elmore James mode.

They moved from Chicago to Boston, where JB's promoter at the time lived. I must have seen J.B. play 30 or 40 times. Always great.
