Hello all!

I have a 1987 Guild D25-12 that is experiencing some bridge lift in the back, and I need to make a repair myself. Does anyone know if the bridge was glued down using hot hide glue, or was the Westerly crew using epoxy or some other type of glue at this time? Thanks

I'm guessing that date is a typo😜 So 1987 or 1997? Either way, I seem to recall another post where the glues used at Westerly were discussed and the general belief was that hide glue was used on all acoustics made there. If any other type of glue were to be used, it would be a PVA glue, such as Titebond, which shouldn't be difficult to work with. Certainly no chance that they would have used an epoxy!

This is a major neck/headstock repair I did about a month ago using HHG (hot hide glue).

Hi Sharky501, welcome!

Yes Westerly used hot hide glue for all joints in flattops including the bridge, just to answer that specific question. ;)
It has a rep for being a bit "stubborn" if you know what I mean. May take bit longer than some other makes to break loose.

Keep us posted, we love repair pics!
