Hear tell it was a bit breezy over the pond. Bit worried about Curtis - sent him a PM to ask if he was OK and no reply yet

Perhaps y'all in the tornado belt should ship your Guilds over here for safe keeping :?:

One of my best friends lives outside Birmingham, Alabama. They've had days of non-stop tornadoes and he has friends in Tuscaloosa who's lives have been destroyed along with their whole town. You couldn't PAY me to live there..... nuh uh. I'll stick with the dry heat of the desert. Tom in Vegas

Got to agree with you there Tom; of course, you couldn't pay me to live in the desert, either.

Here on Long Island, it was really cool to watch that same front that spawned all those incredible tornadoes die abruptly when it hit the cold ocean around us. Some small tornadoes in Jersey, and we got nary a rumble of thunder. 8)

We were driving home from South Texas the day it hit here. We recieved a strange alert that I'd not seen before on Mrs. West's cell phone..........something to the effect of "Dangerous Weather Alert!". The alert went on to say that conditions were setting up for a very rare weather event....even for here.

We were driving on Texas State Hwy 31 through the farm country around Corsicana and as you looked to the north, you could see these impressive wall clouds, then we drove through Malakoff just before the storm hit. Malakoff and Gun Barrell City, just to our north as we traveled, were both hit by tornadoes. By the time we reached the east side of Canton, it's looked pretty bad......just an eerie, very green sky. I found myself driving east on I-20 about 30 mph and even that speed was far too dangerous in the sheets of rain and wind we were experiencing. Fortunately there was an exit nearby and we were able to wait it out in a Cracker Barrell for the next couple of hours, but a fascinating storm it was.

My sister lives in Birmingham and they were pretty well hammered, but all are fine with her family and property.

The head of the National Weather Service was interviewed last night and he attributed the event to two things, a cold Pacific Ocean and "Spring". :)

That's what my friend said last fall. He said the Pacific had dropped in temperature and lots of dust in the air from the Greenland / Iceland volcano eruptions would cause a heavy snow winter. He was right, and I guess we're still seeing the effects.

Sounds like the weather we had when Cindy and I were heading back from visiting Mom a few years ago in early May.
Between Texarkana and Little Rock, on I-30, the sky turned green and we turned into the first cinder-block motel I could find. It got really nasty and we watched it all slip by on the Weather Channel!

Reminds me of the Tom Waits song "Spare Parts"

"Well, the dawn cracked hard just like a bull-whip
'Cause it wasn't takin' no lip from the night before
And it shook out the streets
As the stew bums showed up like bounced checks
Rubbin' their necks
And the sky turned the color of Pepto-Bismol"

I've seen the sky turn the color of Pepto-Bismol, too; luckily not around here. :D

Just heard from Curtis (Mr. P ~) on Facebook. I'm not sure what kind of damage his house sustained or whether he's just without power, but he's hunkered down at his parent's house safe and sound. That's good to hear. 8)

Big thunderboomer today........a couple inches of rain and we watched the marble sized hail dance around the yard.
