Beautiful guitar man. I love the red with the wood grain showing throught on that big starfire body. Just out of curiosity does anyone(Hans) know if that is the original master volume knob? It seems like all the master volumes knobs i have seen on guilds have been the smaller knob, but i really have no idea just wondering.

Nothing was 'etched in stone' at Guild but the general rule was 'small Master Volume knob' when it was next to the 'pickup selector switch'. If the master volume knob was just by itself it would be the regular 'big G-shield knob'.
There have been times that Guild used big Master Volume knobs next to a selector switch but it looks like they just did that because they ran out of small knobs; slightly later models would have the small knob again.
On this guitar the 'big' knob looks original. The brass indicator spike would be too far away from the small knob if that had been the original one.
Seriously Hans, I learn something new about Guilds every day coming here! Thanks! Come to think of it, the Starfire II Bass here has the small vol knob, and it is indeed on the same bout as the selector switch. And you're right about the brass indicator thingy, it's the same distance from the vol knob as the other big knobs. Very cool!
This thread sounds more like 21st Century Schizoid Man than In the Court of the Crimson King. Maybe that's all of LTG...
In seriousness, I think I need to get both a Starfire and a Fender Concert. I don't think I'd get the bass depth out of my Silverface Princeton, Bassman 100, or even the Blackface Bassman. All stars...
Funny you should say that because I found the same to be true of my silverface princeton reverb, which is why it bit the dust for this Concert. Heck, if it has enough bottom for my SF Bass, it'll do just fine for this SF II!
