As I was listening to this, I thought I detected a Guild bridge, and then a G-shield. You never really see the headstock well. What do you think?

Thanks to my 27" screen I can make out the headstock inlay. Nope, not a G-shield, something else. Also, the fretboard inlays are unlike anything else I've seen 'em use, especially considering it looks like an F30 sized guitar.
I see it now. F30 with the jumbo shape bod?
Nope, you're hallucinating too. You wouldn't happen to be getting your water from the city of Lost Wages, would you?

That bridge did pull me off into the muck. Funny, just yesterday I was listening to Steve Earle talking about Dylan's Nick Lucas.

My water comes from a well, but I will be getting it tested. When I close my eyes I still see the M30 I missed out on.

That 13 fret Gibson Nick Lucas Special is said to be most probably from 1933.
And yes, it has a Guild replacement bridge! That's even documented on a Gibson webpage! Also the top is said it was refinished from burst to natural and a Martin pickguard added.

You're hallucinating, that must have been some good stuff.:giggle:
Although there's a certain cachet to having some "good stuff" (I wish....) I'm afraid I'm going to dash your hopes and just admit to failing eyesight (I really need new glasses, badly) and unfamiliarity with Dylan's choice in guitars. Also, if I had Ralf's skill at computers and research, I'd never have posted. But it was fun anyway. I'm more than willing to admit defeat, @dreadnut.

But that bridge isn't a typical Gibson style, is it? That's what lead me astray. Well, that and my poor eyesight these days. Oh well..... ;)

Ralf being mentioned - I wonder if he can find a picture of Dylan with THAT 12-string - built in Duluth - in mid seventies . . .

I think we tried in that thread but no, don't think there was a picture available.

Dylan's Nick Lucas was extesively modified by a guitar store in New York City in 1963/64. The guitar was origionally owned by the sister of well Known guitar repair/builder Paul Hoffstetter. It was strripped of it's sunburst finish and given that Guild bridge. The guitar was damaged on the 1966 world tour and likely never repaired. It's last known care taker is Dylan's son Jacob Dylan who apparantly never was public with the guitar. One guitar player who has seen the guitar and described it has having the strings 1inch above the sound board. In other words still un playable.

Didn't notice this is an older thread, but still, as I was listening to this I was just thinking, Dylan is such a gift to our generation. A hard rain's gonna fall -- wow.

Ah, a Nick Lucas. I hope to own some kind of version or copy of one some day. The small-but-deep 13-fret long scale Nick Lucas spec is unique and makes for a special guitar.
