... The 3 prong is a good idea too, but I haven't convinced her of that yet ... the little matching amp sits neglected unless I pull it out. I like the idea of a Weber (and cord). ... Any idea why there would be 2 inputs? ... small box of very old tubes from my wife's father's house as we're cleaning it out, mostly from old radios I'd guess. Would you be interested in them if I do an inventory?
Hi AJ: well ... if you're the one messing with the old Maggie and you get 110V up your arm, she might change her mind but it's a safety issue. One of the inputs might be set up for a microphone; higher impedance between signal and ground than with guitar p/u.

As far as the tubes go, you might look at them but the types with the most widespread interest will be 12A_7s, 6V6s, 5Y3s ... those commonly associated guitar amps ... if there aren't too many, you might list them ... just because I'm not interested wouldn't mean somebody wouldn't be. I know this will sound argumentative but if the cord and speaker aren't attended to, you'll have a cool-looking amp that's unsafe to use and limited in it's output ... I also understand about peace in the home too.

I sold some tubes for a relative of my wife's. There weren't many of value, but there were three joint Army-Navy 300B's. They turned out to be worth 50 bucks a pop. Of course that was in pre-Ebay days.

And then there are tubes that are worthless. Ask cj about that 5000 volt, half-wave rectifier he has saved toward building the world's loudest Champ clone.

Very fine ... a deflatable boat! Say Steffan ... tell the owner that if he's got a clear title, I'd be willing to trade straight up for this one ... I'm looking to downsize ...

It doesn't sound argumentative at all... I know very little about this stuff and I really appreciate your input. Thanks!

I remember as a teenager, my friend and I were playing at a beach dance, concrete slab thing, and when I turned on the Kent amp. he was bouncing the mike between his two hands, I wa laughing so hard it took me a few seconds to be able to react....funny yes, dangerous? yes....ground it and live... Steffan

Yes; in terms of utility, it's about as close to worthless as you can get ... but if the Champ were physically proportioned to the rectifier, it would be the world's largest Champ!

I've been electrocuted by an amp plug before...someone tripped over the outlet in the floor and knocked out the plug, except for one of the straight prongs that bevcame unattached from the plug. Not thinking, I reached down to pull it out, but one of my other fingers touched the other metal prong on the plug....all I can say was it felt really good and hurt really bad at the same time, that it took me 5 or 10 seconds to pull away from it, and that I never did get the other half of the plug out of the floor outlet.
(I probably almost died or something and didn't know it)
anyways, morale of the story...if you find one prong of a plug stuck in a live utlet, don't touch it ...ever!!!

I've shocked myself a couple of times with stereo/guitar amp DC. Healthy people can tolerate a little of it but it can be lethal acting like a defibrillator sending the heart beating out of control or stopping it completely.

... and Kevin ... never wet your finger before putting it in the socket ...

AJ: I mis-spoke about the extra jack ... if the amp doesn't have a volume control, then the jack is useless for a microphone. It's a little hard for us all to imagine two guitars ... lap or otherwise .. plugged into the same +/- 4 watt amp but ... J
