Welcome . I've not played one but some others may have . It looks sweet ! And affordable price .
I want to say you can't go wrong with Guild but in the end you need to play one yourself and make that decision.

I just bought another guild myself and it's all mahogany/ Sapele .

As far as build quality goes Guilds are pretty high on the list and have good support so your in good hands .

Here's a situation where we need Al. If you've visited before, Adorshki is a member who chimes in with info and details and history probably more than you ever needed or wanted, but he's on a self imposed quarantine at home with no wifi. So we'll have to do our best. You don't mention any history. First guitar? First acoustic guitar? Been playing for years? How many of what type of guitars do you currently have now? These are all questions that will help us to help you. Also, as a new member your posts are automatically monitored by LTG to make sure you're not a spam generating evil robot so, your posts may be delayed in showing up here. After a few, they will start showing up in real time.

This particular guitar gets good reviews from people here on the forum. Dreadnaught size and shape, all solid woods, and other than bracing and possibly neck and heel blocks, all mahogany including the soundboard which will give you a bit more mellow and less crisp sound than spruce. But all this is on the website where you've obviously spent some time. If you can get somewhere and play one, that's about the best thing to do. However, during the current state of affairs with the COVID-19 virus, most shops I know are closed. Plus we don't know where in the world you are, so you may not have access even after this lockdown to play one in person. Depending on where you buy it, you may get some kind of return policy in case you don't like it and just pay shipping to return which is important if you don't like the guitar.

I personally think you're gonna love it, and they're beautiful with that sunburst finish and the mahogany is beautiful. Do you have a vendor in mind? You can't buy directly from Guild, except for parts and accessories. That's all I have for ya. Good luck!! :encouragement:

Welcome to LTG! The Guild D-20 is made in the Guild factory in Oxnard, California. There are 4 versions: D-20 and D-20E (with L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system) and both either in "Natural" or "Vintage Sunburst" finish.

You already found the various videos on the Guild page... https://guildguitars.com/g/d-20-in-vintage-sunburst/

Like the others already said, you can't go wrong with it, Tom covered most of the basic questions and Richard told you how he likes his.

I have this guitar's Chinese cousin from five or so years ago. It's a big, beautiful, amazing sounding and playing instrument, and I can't imagine the current US version is anything less. I can also say that my customer service interactions with Cordoba have been great -- in my case, at least, they're really doing things right where customer experience is concerned.

Welcome!

I've had Gibsons and Martins. Some have been wonderful. But my favorite guitars have been Guilds.

It's really a matter of taste. To my ears, Guilds have more character and expression than others. The volume and sustain are impressive, and the wound strings have a slightly growly twang that blossoms nicely, which flatters my playing style.

Mine is a spruce-top D-35. Mahogany tops sound warmer than spruce. How much warmer? It depends on the guitars. My sister's hog-top Gibson sounds pretty lively. An old girlfriend's hog-top Martin sounded a little dull.

You like the videos, so chances are, you'll love the D-20. Dollar for dollar, Guild gives you more for the money than Gibson, Martin, or Taylor.

The advice above to either play one first or buy one you can return is exactly right.

Your link din't work for me...But no-one seems to have noticed; So in case it's not just me, read below...
You must leave a gap between your last written element (sign; letter or other) and the url to have the link working...

Check up the url too after writing (use the 'edit post' after message has been submitted if it doesn't work when you click ont it)...Or the back button if this function is not available to you yet.
For newbies it's better to preview your message before posting and to check up the link does work then. Use the 'preview message' button or 'go advanced' button for that...

As for the D-20, never played one, but I did play its 00 format equivalent, the M-20 : nice guitar, and like the all-mahogany guitars, it has a feel of its own, sweet and gentle that I find very nice ; not an entry level guitar, and usually better than most others at the same price (if not all) I think. I haven't seen the price, but I hope this remains true. Guilds are guitars for life, and can be sold at good prices if you want to upgrade some day...:smile-new:
