I"ve been trying to load an avatar from my files on my computer but it won't take. A message keeps coming up about its size which I have tried typing in different ones and it still won't go through. Question; when you upload an image, does it show in the darkened box in the upper left side as a preview? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not quite sure what your hiccup is but I do recall that the last time I uploaded an avatar, it would not upload unless the uploaded image/file met the size restrictions. On a Windows machine I think I used Paint to shrink the image to the appropriate size, saved it and then uploading worked. If that doesn't help, we'll figure something out.

Do you have a photo sharing site, like Photobucket or one of the others? That seems to be the easiest way to load avatars.

To do so, you copy the direct link of the photo from Photobucket or whatever photo sharing site you use, and then paste it in the URL line and you can then resize it. Avatars can't be larger than 125 x 125.

Resize the photo first. In some type of photo-editing software, choose "resize" or something similiar, make sure the "preserve aspect ratio" box is checked, otherwise your image will distort like crazy when you try to resize it. Then take the LARGEST dimension (height or width) and bring it down to 125 PIXELS. Not inches or centimeters. If your picture is not perfectly square, it will make the other dimension smaller than 125, but that's okay. After you've done that, then SAVE the image with the new dimensions. Then you should be able to add it as an Avatar.

I've been using IrfanView as my photo editing software for years. It's quick, easy, and it's free to download. You can even play most audio files in it and some movies. It's been rated as one of the best photo processing programs many times.

If that is too complex or you don't know how to do it, just PM me and I'll resize it for you and send it back to you via email and then try it.
