I own a beautiful blonde '01 Westerly Guild Starfire III. It is possibly my favorite Guild, but I kind of wish I had opted for the P90 model because I have humbucker tone covered w/ other guitars.
There is a blonde Corona-made SFIII P90 for sale I am considering, but if I got it I could not really justify keeping both - so the Westerly would have to go.
Would you trade a Westerly SF III for a Corona SF III P90 if it was essentially a straight trade money-wise?
I can make a pretty good argument either way.
(Another option I've considered is to put a pair of Harmonic Design Z-90s in the SFIII - which are hum-sized, wide-range P90s, but that would, of course, be a modification [although reversible.])

I'm torn. :?

If you have a chance to try the Corona one, and you like it just as much from a playing standpoint, and everything checks out OK, I say go for it - but I'm a humbucker-hater...

I've heard that the Corona guitars are every bit as good as the Westerlys from the same era, but I've not played one. They certainly look as nice.

I've had 2 Corona guitars. (X180 and a Starfire III). Both were excellent guitars. I know what you mean about feeling like you have some base (humbucker) or another covered in your sound pallete. But, ultimately for me at least, that's like saying you've got redheads covered. Personally I really like the look of that P90 Starfire. But, I wouldn't trade any guitar I love for any guitar I hadn't played. This advice being worth what you paid for it, good luck and be sure to post pictures.

"I wouldn't trade any guitar I love for any guitar I hadn't played. "

That makes a great deal of sense, thanks.
But then, of course, I think... "well if I get a decent deal on it and don't like it better than the other I can probably sell it w/out losing money."
I'd be surprised if it goes for a bargain though. And so it goes... GAS is a beautiful thing.
