I've been watching Sir Paul on youtube all night; Blackbird. I know, this post wasn't about Paul however, I don't think enough people give him credit for his guitar playing. He is an incredible player!
Has anyone found footage of John or George playing thier Starfire's?
Hi JimBetts - As far as anyone knows, the Beatles had only one Starfire among them, a 1966 custom-made 12 string which has not been documented as ever being used on any of their recordings.
John and George did however, own matching Gibson J160e's , Epiphone Casinos (different in that George's had a vibrato), Martin D-28's (Paul and John) and '61 sonic blue Fender strats (reportedly played on
Nowhere Man) All of these instruments were reportedly used on various Beatles recordings. In addition, the J160's and Casinos were also played in live performances.
The non-matching electric guitars used by the group included Rickenbackers, Gretsches,Hofners, Paul's Fender Esquire,et al. Acoustic instruments included a Framus Hootenanny 12 string (
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away) a Jose Ramirez (
And I Love Her ), and Paul's Epiphone Texan (
Yesterday). 8)
