And a heart-felt "thank you" to all the vets here on LTG, and everywhere else...

*I inadvertently added this to the WW I post but I think I'll post it here, too, because it bears repeating.
The most insightful comment I've heard today:
"The best way to honor our veterans is to not make anymore."
Joe
The thank you comments are very much appreciated. And I mean that.
I'm deeply offended; however, by the 'insightful' comment' stated above. Those of you who have been here a while may recall my account many years ago, of the 'greeting' received at the airport in San Francisco upon returning home from my first Vietnam tour of duty. The eggs, tomatoes, water balloons and jeers became common place events to those of us fortunate enough to make it home. To this day, Vietnam vets greet each other with a brotherly 'Welcome Home'...
If you didn't serve there, you have no right to contradict my statement, and although statements like these hurt, even today, I'll defend your right to freely make offensive remarks to whomever you wish. And as long as we're around, most vets will do the same...

Scratch sends...
Thanks, Rick, for understanding the comment as it was intended.Sorry, I'm a little confused. If you are referring to Joe's comment I fail to see the wrong.
I too am a Vietnam vet. I too remember the (not) welcomes home.
But I agree with the idea that it would be nice if we remembered what vets went through and allowed it never to happen again.
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
This is my last post on this thread since it's been skewed by a total misunderstanding of a quote that I posted on Veterans Day. There was NO intention to hurt anyone's feelings, but merely to point out that there is a better world that's possible. If you simply read the quote and think about it, you will understand what it means. I'm a veteran and I understand what the quote means.
It's not about Vietnam, Korea, Anzio, Shiloh, etc., etc. It's about living in peace in a world without war.
Thanks to all the vets for their service!! :numbness:
