While living in MN I worked some months at TURCK Multiprox - proximity sensors - we used to call us turkeys - does Thanksgiving Day count us - or are we the most wanted ?

Yes my favorite day! Folks are all gone now, so Iā€™m in between the kitchen and the Bat Cave (a.k.a. The guitar room). Eat a little, play a little, eat, play, so forth and so onā€¦Thankful for LTG

Yup - despite of the actions of Tavaritsh Vladimir - electricity price has rocketed 5-10-fold !!! And that reflects to everything - food costs more. But we are alive and still have something to eat. In Ukraine things are horrible.

Personally - that conflict has finally kicked us - my wife & me - to get something we have talked about some years. I will start a new thread - NXXD - about it when final steps are done - with any luck about 24 hours from now.

There are generally two great things about a Thanksgiving meal in my mind. One is obviously the turkey and all the fixingsā€™. The other is pie.

Typically we do the pumpkin pie thing, which is just fine and dandy with me. This year we went to a friendā€™s for a pot luck Thanksgiving. Everyone brought a couple of their favorite sides and ā€¦ a pie. All home made. And friends, I had them all - blueberry, apple, two pumpkins and pecan. It was Pietopia. Amazing.

Pie, I love the eye candy of the ā€œpie tableā€ at Thanksgiving. However, I look forward to my moms Key Lime pie. Every year as long as I can remember. True key limes are so tiny it really takes a whole bag, but itā€™s a guaranteed PUCKER maker. Very tart. Her whipped cream is so heavy it almost sticks to the roof of your mouth. Though the pecan and pumpkin still come in a close second. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving is the only days of the year I get to have pie for breakfast. šŸ„§ā˜•ļø

My vote is for strawberry rhubarb pie. I miss my Grandmas homemade with fresh rhubarb pulled from her garden, but I will say that Clementines restaurant in Carpenteria has a very close approximation of Grandmas. I was excited to find that was an option when they came asking if weā€™d like dessert. Yum.

I got a frozen sweet potato pie and baked it. It sucked.

We used to make Prudhomme's pecan sweet potato pie out of his Louisiana Kitchen book. The wife was eyeing the recipe and I said I'm not making that pie! It is killer though.

Key Lime is great, hard to find real Key limes.
