Try not to get All Shook Up and Don't Be Cruel, but today's the day Elvis was born. I'll try to imagine what he might look like at 75. Alas, we'll never know. :(

Anyway, Happy Birthday E!

Here's last year's pic of Elvis. Isn't he living in Fiji amongst elves or aliens or something?

Boy, those sideburns just disappeared didn't they?!
And there was that hip replacement surgery, too. Dang!
Looking pretty good, though, for an old Teddy Bear, all things considered.

Elvis was spotted leaving the KFC in my neighborhood with a bucket under each arm, and a bag full of sides. Michael Jackson was following him carrying a tray with 75 little batter dipped deep-fried Mars Bars, each with its own little candle. They both looked pretty good all things considered...
OK, setting cynicism aside, I didn't really get turned on to Elvis until I saw that acoustic jam he did with his buddies, I think it's part of the '68 comeback special. I liked "Suspicious Minds" when it came out, and I REALLY LIKE "Kid Creole" which I only saw for the first time about 10 years ago. That's when I finally "got it". He WAS one of the greats.

Here's a great Elvis clip, might be the one alluded to a couple of posts back.

Yep that be the one... Only ever saw it twice when I stumbled across it already in progress... and as for "KID" Creole... could I just say I forgot to take my meds today? Stuff like that never used to happen to me 20 years ago...

You mean it DOESN'T get any better than this? Lessee, already got gout, 3 crowded teeth are gonna have to be extracted sometime in the next coupla years, I gotta get glasses 'cause I can't see the sheet music so good anymore, I don't mind having to cut down on the beer and cigarettes so much 'cause I just get tired now anyway, what else is there? Oh yeah when girlfriend gets back she's gonna want me to show her how much I missed her but I can't remember what it is she likes, was it red wine or white....? A while back I started wishing I could just have one good week every once in a while. Then I decided to get realistic and wished I could at least have two good days in a row. NOW I just hope I can get through a day without having to use anything stronger than Advil....Lemme tell ya it gets tough when ya hit 30....

Turner Classic ran Jailhouse Rock over the weekend... got reminded I like that one as much as King Creole. For anybody reading this that never understood what Elvis had, these are the two movies ya gotta see.
