You see Jerry, once upon a time we belonged to these folks that wanted us to pay WAY too much in taxes. Finally the people revolted and decided to start their own country. There were 13 states and they decided to call the new country the "United States". Sound familiar? :wink: Sometimes I think our own government forgets that.....but the people don't. If I hear "greater good" one more time, I'll lose it. Individualism means nothing anymore, and that truly is the component that allows individuals, companies and countries to excel, without it, we sink.

I don't think higher taxes for the "greater good" will fly for long. The founding fathers intended to give the citizens the right to fail....or succeed based on their own initiative or lack thereof, not to be supported by the government through outrageously high taxes.

... so we elected our own government officials and pay them even higher taxes. :roll:




I was talking to a friend who was at a U.S. Military base in the England. She said that every year on the 4th of July, the power would mysteriously go off over the whole base from sunup to sundown.

You guys really hold a grudge. :mrgreen:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

West and Russ, I couldn’t agree with you more. Happy fourth of July to all, and after the BBQ break out the Guilds and make this day a fond memory to family and friends alike. Be blessed and be safe. :D

not that I need to add anything to what the other fellas posted, which were spot on, and also, July 4th, 1776, a bunch of Colonial dudes in process of forming a governing body/democracy, declared us an independent nation. Complete with fireworks, hotdogs, burgers, steak, beer, parades (I especially like to see the Vets carry the Colors), baseball games, hot rod shows, time spent with family and friends, is our version of celebrating being nation. OooRah!
It is so cool too that nations like England, Canada, and Australia have fought along side us to rid the world of tyranny and strife from would-be freedom killers.
