I haven't heard anything on when it might be finished Rich.
Seems to me he actually mentioned a couple of years ago that Volume 2 was actually almost(?)(if not completely) finished and looking for a publishing deal.
I got a sneaking suspicion it won't cover more than Corona, partly because I can't recall him ever commenting on anything after that, and partly because it'd just turn into a never-ending task.
Then there's this quote from him
over on the FDP:
"Hello Bob,
Yes, I might have asked for that information. I collect Guild info for my database, which I use for my ongoing research on Guild Guitars.
If you would like to know a bit more about the history of the model, you should try to get hold of a copy of 'The Guild Guitar Book - The Company and the Instruments, 1952-1977'. There should be enough info on the M-80 in there and if you still hace questions after reading, just get back here or contact me at my regular e-mail address.
Oh, and I'm located in the Netherlands and I don't have a connection with Guild other than that I wrote a book about them and I'm currently working on Part II, which will bring Guild history up to date.
Sincerely,
Hans Moust"
Note "up to date" at that time was December '04, Corona was down and Tacoma wasn't in production yet.
Also, doing a search for "Hans Moust" brings up
all his posts over there and also some answers to questions we re-visit
here periodically and some answers to questions that haven't been answered properly here, yet.
In fact, it oughta be a sticky over in the FAQ's.
As for the publishing deal I mentioned above it wouldn't surprise me if one question now might be one of whether or not to even publish a paper version of it.
That could mean there are an entirely new set of tasks involved in publishing an electronic version of it. I don't know how that works.
The shrinkage of book publishing has been one of the major factors in the decline in demand for paper over the last 5 years, as e-books become more and more popular.
Personally I think a paper printed image is preferable but I'm a dinosaur in the minority these days, apparently.
