Put them in your freezer for evidence for insurance company.

I don't know how it is in other parts of the country, but down here, well the insurance companies pretty well know when there's been a hail storm.

It is a good point...
this occurred in South Carolina, where hail this size is just not that common! I would think in Texas it would just be a completely automated claim process, by now.
I have great photos, video, audio, everything *except* the hail in the freezer. Saving one of the hail stones for evidence never crossed my mind until I read your post, Tom. Duh! That would have been a very intelligent thing to do. My insurance company said they are flooded with calls regarding having a car that looks dimpled like the skin of a golf ball, so just get in line.[/quote:2n8gi897]
Really not trying to sound like a "Johnny Toppitt". About 20 years ago, we had a hail storm with softball sized hail. At the time, I lived in a log home with a cedar shake roof. With a cedar roof, you don't do decking under the shingles, you do slats. Those slats are spaced several inches apart.
A few of the hail stones went though my shingles, between the slats and hit the upstairs bedroom ceiling. But believe it or not, it didn't break a window in the house. Insurance even paid for the chunks it took out of my cedar split rail fence.
