I have an old one, with premium quality Belden cable. It was expensive. I have had it for more than 30 years and it is still going relatively strong. It has a make-before-break switch built into the jack on one end of the cable. You have to pay attention to which end you plug into the amp. There is a serious problem, however, in that it doesn't always work. It is dependent upon the external nut on the barrel of the guitar's output jack being close enough to the end of the barrel to close the switch when the cable is plugged in. Not all guitars come this way. But, yes, you could dismantle and adjust the assembly of the output jacks on all your guitars - something I have never bothered to do.
