Here's one with Humbuckers.

People keep cloulding the issue, I'm having a challenge being 100% content till I have the opportunity to play one with P 90's.

Wow, I was going to say that I thought sunburst was relatively rare, and then you post one that looks almost identical!

In my experience it's not possible to ever be 100% content with guitars, but I'll bet yours sounds great. What year is it? With the help of Hans Moust we dated mine 2001. The sticker inside says Westerly, one of the last guitars made there I suppose.

Mine's a '98 & she does sound nice.

Still, most everybody raves about P 90's & little is said one way or another of Humbuckers.

The skilled guitarists (does not include me) who play my X-400 with the humbuckers say things like "best jazz guitar I've played", etc. - that because of the pickups. I've got a pair of Franz's, but I'm a bit reluctant to replace the humbuckers because of just such reviews.

Hi again!

Thanks to everyone for helping me learn how to put up an image.

Here's a picture of my lates three archtops that I purchased within the past 2 months. On the left is a Gretsch Brian Setzer 6120SSL, in the middle is a 1961 Gibson ES 125TC and of course on the right is the Guild Starfire III - P-90.

My Starfire is has a transparent red finish, the picture isn't exactly great so I will take more.

I would like to change the P-90 covers and volume/tone to a cream color.

Mine also didn't come with the stock aluminim bridge, it has a wooden base and "Tune-O-Matic" style bridge. What do you guys think, should I try and find an original bridge? Does anyone have one they are willing to part with?
Thanks again!
Dave

God, the pics in this thread are killing me! Would love to have either of those beautiful sunburst SF IIIs, P-90 or humbuck. Better yet, both, so I could decide for myself the virtues of each. Someday ...

Guildocaster: Nice guitars! I don't know about Guilds, but have done some bridge swaps on Gretsches and Kays. The aluminum Bigsby bridge worked best for me on guitars that could use a little extra high end cut and treble. It's not a necessity for operating the Bigsby IMHO. More like an option to try depending on your tonal tastes. So far my favorite bridge with a Bigsby is the Gretsch rocker bar bridge. Put that on a Gretsch 6121 which came stock with a rosewood bridge base and Bigsby aluminum top. The rocker bar added sustain, eliminated a "zingy" metallic sound from the unwound G over that aluminum saddle. If I ever get a SF III, that'll be my first experiment. Unless it sounds perfect as is.
