Well folks, I am getting out of the active guitar business after nearly thirty years. Over that time I have come to be known as "The Guild Guy," and have enjoyed trading in and playing these wonderful guitars. If someone wants to continue what I have done, I can promise two things. First, it will take effort and a love for guitars in general and Guilds specifically. Second, it will be rewarding. I have made a few bucks (this was mainly a side business for me), owned and traded some great guitars, and met some really wonderful people.
When I started no one really cared about Guilds. Other dealers at guitar shows would direct customers with Guilds to sell or wanting to buy, to me. That is no longer the case. However, I have developed a reputation for knowing about and caring about these guitars.
Anyone trying to replicate or expand the "Guild Guy" deal will, in my opinion, only succeed if he/she truly cares about the instruments.
I have a stock of some parts left that I can toss into the deal. These are not quick sellers, but a good stock of parts can help solidify your place in the Guild universe. If you are interested, you can contact me at jpilzer@guildguy.com. I check email often so that is the best way to make contact.
If I do not have a response from the forum by the first of the year, I will take other routs to sell the domain name. I really hope that one of you--who have long evidenced interest in Guilds-- will take this up.
Thanks, Jay Pilzer

Jay,

Best of luck and say hello to your gal for me.

By the way, I am really enjoying that Mark 4P you traded me at the Texas Show. My luthier set it up with flamenco action (it was close to that anyway) and I am thinking strongly about putting a Barbera pickup in it. If you haven't heard of them, go to youtube and listen to John Knowles play one. I think Barbera transducers may even have a youtube channel.

You don't know me, but I've bought and traded Guilds with you at some of the shows around Chicago (St. Charles & Crestwood) in the last 20 years.
Thanks for being there and good luck!

Jay, best of luck to you. My dad and I always enjoyed chatting with you at the shows back in the '90s. Not sure we ever bought anything from you at the shows, but remember coming real close to nabbing a DeArmond-equipped X-500 with an amateur blonde refin once -- I think my dad did some buying/trading with you online, though. Thanks for being such a resource over the years!
