I noticed on my newish Guild D-50, that I can't wrap my thumb on an F chord as easily as I can on all my other guitars (mostly Martins). Looking at the nut, it seems the low E is a hair farther in from the edge of the neck that on other guitars. Is this a Guild thing or just the nut on this guitar?

It's a Guild thing. When I had my D-50 (which I should never have sold), I had a new nut put on with wider string spacing. There is plenty of room to spread the strings out.
