I was watching a folk music special hosted by Noel Paul Stookey (of PPM) last night. I only caught the last bit of it, but I saw several Guilds in play.

Judy Collins playing a 12 (maybe an F-212?)
Paul Simon with his F-30R and what looked to be a maple back guitar of the same dimensions sitting next to him
John Denver with his BIG 12 string
The Lovin' Spoonful with Zally's Thunderbird and Steve Boone playing a Starfire Bass- nice closeups of Zal BTW.

There were some others I missed, including Richie Havens.

Yep, that was an excellent show!

Don't miss the brand new (2011) PBS Special called; "The 60's... Rock, Pop & Soul..." or something like that. The current edition of Jefferson Starship has a replacement for Grace Slick who is even better than Grace (Cathy Richardson) and just as good lookin'!

I take it you mean how Grace used to look, now she is long, long in the tooth.

Extreme disagreement, on the vocal skills at least. Different for sure, better trained, possibly, but to me, absolutely not "better" .
Increased by the fact that in that show at least, the band was trying to simply recreate the exact note-for-note arrangements of the original hit versions of "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit".
Back in the day, the original band's philosophy was "never play it the same way twice".
Now it's just another act still able to get a draw on the county fair circuit.

...
Whereas jazz is never playing it the same way once.

And have you ever heard Bela Fleck's "Throw Down Your Heart", exploring the african origins of the banjo? (getting back to "folk music"....)

Wish we had access to those shows here. :( I'd like to have seen them all.
I believe you could gain access by becoming a member through donation. You may not even have to become a "member". Several of the "Public Broadcasting System" (PBS) stations have web-streaming and online stores. They typically run those shows during pledge drives and make frequently make them available as "gifts" for various pledge levels.
Here's a link to my favorite local station for example:

I think you should be able to get it "down there". :D
