I know there has been previous requests wanting to buy a R30s Resonator and I snoozed when New Hartford shutdown. Been kicking myself in the butt since. Right now the time is right to put out feelers. Hope to find one.
That's what I'm hoping for with the solid body. What's your opinion of the difference? I value it based on your ability to write up nice reviews. I also appreciate input from others as well. At LMGIV I saw them in the build stage. (Drool!). I think Jason McIntyre was involved since his signature is under the hood.Does it need to be an "s"?
I saw that too, and Jason has told me that the resonators were his favorite guitars to build. That's reason enough to keep mine. I imagine though, that the laminated models probably don't sound much different. That's what I'm hoping for with the solid body. What's your opinion of the difference? Thanks! I did see that thought in a post of yours from many, many years ago. The round neck is the main feature I'd like.I saw that too, and Jason has told me that the resonators were his favorite guitars to build. That's reason enough to keep mine. Do the R30 whether an "s" or not use the same cone?I have three of the four models. Two “s” and one not. They’re different models so it’s probably not a fair comparison, and I’m not really a resonator player, but I don’t think it matters much.
The wood doesn’t really make the sound in a resonator like it does in an acoustic. What matters more is the cone and related parts because they act kind of like a purely mechanical speaker/amplifier. I seem to recall that the old “good” resonators were all laminate but I could be wrong about that.
Then of course there are the big old metal Nationals where wood isn’t even ort of the equation.
After reading your old "Anticipation" post I would take either. Whatever one is first available.Does it need to be an "s"?
