Don't fear the eventual neck reset. The traditional dovetail neck joint is strong and durable. You should only have to reset the neck once in the lifetime of the guitar. Both of my acoustics have reset necks and they play like dreams. Find a competent repair person and go for it. You won't regret it. You don't need a bolt-on neck.

Don't , don't touch that neck! You will gain nothing noticeable, and you will destroy your guitar. If it was made with a dovetail neck joint, it was for a reason.

Dovetail joints give a better contact between neck and body, and the eventual neck reset which you may or may not ever need, will not be that much easier or less costly as a result. If you were to convert over, that is.

Leave that baby alone . . .
