I recently came into a late 60's (Hoboken) Mark II with what appears to be a cedar top... Is this possible? I thought it was only spruce on this model. Has anyone run across such a beast?

Thanks!

Hello Bob,

Late '60s would be early for a cedar top, but I'm not saying it's impossible. However, keep in mind that the lacquer was tinted a bit and combined with the darker shade that the wood gets after so many years, you might end up with that brownish cedar look.
Can you show me a close-up photo of the front?

Sincerely,

Thanks Hans.... spruce it is!

I was kind of thrown off by the tinting. Its a beautiful shade for sure.
