I have a guitar with a painted on Guild logo which got wiped off when I refinished my guitar. I was wondering if there exists a stencil I could use to paint a new one on. It's just the simple guild logo without the shield.

Barry,

Was it actually "painted"? I don't know if the Guild logo was ever painted on, but maybe it was.

By "stencil" do you mean decal?

Hi Cooter; Coastie, one of our BBers, had some 'G' shield stickers made ... believed to be sized off the originals. I don't think he had any 'rooftop' logos done but maybe. I don't know of any public domain stencils.

IF another BBer stuck their guitar in a copy machine, they could xerox, scan, and mail you something to work with. You could transfer the image to hardstock, and cut it out with an exacto knife ... you'd have to watch for size; if the headstock being xeroxed weren't flush on the machine, the image would be too large (or small?) - either way it would be out of proportion. Not saying you aren't but it would help if you were one very adept Arts & Crafts type of person to make this work - and tidy too, one screw up and ... eechh

Good luck! CJ

DH,

Quite a few models (from vintage "script" to modern) were silk screened.

I think I have some ancient offcuts of the MOP used in the logos - they're the "negatives" and might be useful as stencils - I'll dig around in my ditty bag this evening and see what's there.

Cuda, there are some self-stick decals around LTG. Coastie had some made and members bought them.

What size and style do you need?

Someone, including me, may have an extra.

Yes, I have some on hand. What guitar & year do you have? No Chesterfield logos. Just G-shield & peaked Guild.

The peaked guild. Its a 1997 D4. Black lettering not gold. I tried making a stencil myself by photocopying the logo on the back of the product manual (which I still have) and using an xacto knife. I made one that looked pretty good that I could use to paint it on, but i realized I need something adhesive backed so i could get a clean edge. I'd be happy to buy a decal from someone. The decal sounds like a good idea instead of trying to paint it on. Thanks.

Hi Cuda,

The D4 had/has silk screened lettering. But at this point a decal would be the most cost-effective route for you.

In Hoc Signo Vinces:
Motto of Emperor Constantine, the Knights Templar, Freemasons, and Pall Mall Cigarettes ... go figure ... but understood to mean: "In side twenty cigarettes" by 50s/60s teens everywhere.

In quod signo all of the above (save perhaps the Freemasons) vincabant multitudes.
