Looks like second half of 1990 to me (SNs for JF-30s in 1990 end with 1099).

... and welcome to LTG!

Welcome aboard djpeyton!

Gardman's info may be correct, but we also know that particular era of the JF30-12 s/n records has a very high rate of inaccuracy, examples have been pointed out before by our member @SFIV1967 (Ralf correct me if I'm wrong)

BUT in that late '80's -late '90's era Guild flattops routinely got a date stamp on the neck block, on a beveled edge usually on the treble side.
Very easy to miss and little awkward to sight unless you know you're looking for it.

That was actually the date the rim was completed, the actual final completion date was usually at least a couple of weeks later, sometimes longer for some models. So a late November '89 stamp could potentially actually be a '90 by s/n, for example.

And after all that, our member @hansmoust has records and should be able to confirm it easily.

Well, one of the problems is that looking at the 1990-1992 numbers in the incorrect S/N list the JF-30-12 should have had a JF23 prefix...

What Dave said is right looking at that list but for instance Hans confirmed a JF30-12 with serial # JF300976 is from 1991... So that is proof how wrong the list is as that number would not fit to any of the numbers shown for 1991.

In any case the OPs JF30-12 is most probably also from 1991 (EDIT: Now confirmed by Hans below) and definitely not from 1990. The internal neck block date will better point to the year.

Ralf

Hello djpeyton,

Welcome!

Edit: Sorry, I was thinking the o.p. had a JF30 (after GardMan mentioned that the SNs for JF-30s in 1990 end with 1099), but it turned out to be a JF30-12, so the manufacturing date is 1991.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Yeah... I was looking at the JF30 SN prefixes, somehow missing that the title ID'd it as a JF30-12.

Thank you so much for the information. I have been trying to convince my son my son and his band to use the 12 string to no Avail. I had thought about selling it but he convinced me not to too probably a good idea.

Yep. Pretty desirable piece even outside a group of fans like us. They used magnificent woods and had excellent craftsmanship. :)

Beautiful guitar. I have noticed that it seems to be slightly out of tune on D chord. I was thinking of getting it set up again. Anyone else see this problem? I had a martin D 18 that did the same. I was told it can't be fixed.

djpeyton,
In the photo of the three guitars, what is the Brand Name of the blond dreadnought on the right side of the photo? I saw someone using a similar instrument in a teaching video, and was unable to determine the brand from the wordless logo on the headstock.
Please and thank you.

Gorgeous! I absolutely love my JF30-12 and play it all the time.

A setup sounds like a good idea. If the intonation is off, a good luthier can cut a new saddle to correct that. In other words, that can be fixed. Plus s/he'll make it easy to play, and with new strings, you won't be able to put her down.

Besides, that back is spectacular! (y)
