I dont see this model much but its seems a little odd. The Westerly sticker puts it as around a 1998 DV6-E AB HG. A beautiful guitar but just looks like a deluxe D-40.

Anybody know anything about these guitars?

1. Why is the new DV6 rosewood but this one looks like mahogany?
2. Is the only difference between this guitar and a D40 the headstock?
3. Does anyone know what factory electronics that Guild put on these models. It has the two big knobs on the bass side of the body near the neck. What kind of pickup was used?

Ok...here are the pics.

I've been wondering about this since they announced the new DV6's. This is likely to cause massive confusion down the road. Silly decision by the new Guild if you ask me. Not sure why they didn't just go with "DV50" or something that would make sense in terms of rosewood & not mahogany. I don't recall seeing much in the way of specifics at all on the Westerly DV4, DV6, DV25, etc, but there are a handful of DV6 reviews at Harmony Central.

That looks like a beauty, by the way. A guy was/is selling one on Craigslist with a natural top in my area, but I ended up with the D17 before I gave it serious consideration.

I agree with you guys as it looks like it's a mahogany model circa 1997-1998. Guild mostly used Fishman in that period, and this one looks like a beauty. I don't know why Guild decided to utilize the current DV-6 model with Rosewood as this was reserved for the higher-end DV models like the 52, 62, etc. in the past. Alas, who knows the logic, but this git would be a nice score. 8)

I didn't even know there was a new DV-6 until I read it here. It's rather a plain Jane rosewood though, isn't it, as opposed to the DV-52? Looks like the D-50 is still the top dawg after to the D-55 in the current product offerings.

Yeah, I am a little dissapointed with the new DV series guitars and the way they changed up the materials.

Does anyone have any more specifics on the electronics. What series fishman was used and can those huge knobs be retrofitted with something like Taylor uses?
