I've got a friend who is just learning to play guitar. He lives in Houston and is looking at a Guild DC-1e nthr on Craig's List. http://houston.craigslist.org/msg/1021416142.html , The seller needs to sell it by tomorrow and has a bottom line of $450 for guitar and hscase. I really don't know much about this model, I've looked it up and see that it has hog sides and back, spruce top, and fishman electronics. I know the hr means hand rubbed so it's a satin finish. The seller told me it was made in Westerly, RI ( I had him check the label).

Does anyone have this model? Anyone played it? My friend wants some advice and all I can tell him at this point is that it's a Guild and probably worth his time to go over and play it to see how it feels, sounds, etc.

Thanks for any input you can add to enlighten me.

Asumming all is well with guitar, $450 seems like a fair price - I see D4's on ebay for that much all the time and the D4 is basically the same guitar sans electronics.

I owned a DCE1 for a good 10 years and it was a great, and very versatile guitar. Most often, it was my go-to live guitar.

Make sure the electronics work well.
Check the action, particularly the bridge/saddle height.
Check everything else.

If all is well, then that's good deal on a great guitar.
