I have been on a quest now for a couple years to get my hands on my very own Guild D-55. A little extra work here and there, plus a side job is getting me there. I have been keeping up on the company news also, and to be honest I am confused on where it's going, or should I say where Fender is taking it. I know the GAD series is now made in China and I have a D25 that was made made in Corona, before they moved to Tacoma. Now that's gone too. This all leaves me with the question, where are they making there higher end stuff right now. This new D-55 I want to buy, where is it made? Does anyone have any insight as to what's happing to this company and the Guild brand. I don't want to shell out this kind of money if this old respected brand is going to end up being like Gibson's Epiphone line. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Best,
JB

I too would love to have a D-55. I currently own an '87 D-50 Westerly and a 2006 D-40 Tacoma. Based on this miniscule comparison I would jump on a Tacoma built D-55 in a New York minute. Either New old stock or used. I wouldn't wait for the Connecticut builds to arrive.

Just my opinion.

Join the club....we're all pretty confused. They're supposedly starting to build them in Hartford, Connecticut.....haven't seen or heard of one from there yet however.

If he hasn't sold it, Scratch has one.....he had it listed on eBay, but I don't know if it sold. She's a beaut......I've played that one.

I've played it as well, and it's fabulous!

That's her on the left with Scratch at the helm. That's me on the right doing horrible things to Wests' D55.

Scratchs' is listed here at a very, very attractive price. If I hadn't just bought his Bertha and that GF-25 I mightahadta buy this one.

 What Graham isn't telling you is that the D55 he's holding is sort of OUR guitar.

Must say that my '06 D-55 is just a KILLER GREAT guitar! It has been my #1 axe for my solo gigging and I love it to death, both plugged and unplugged (Fishman Matrix pup).

Keeper for life!
