I found a CV-2C in a local guitar shop that plays great and appears to be in nice shape other than the neck. There is a slight gap between the fretboard and body on the upper side. It looks like the neck has shifted a little because there is some finish cracking on the heel. I'm wondering if the neck twisted or is this a minor repair? I've tried to attach photos but apparently I don't know what I'm doing.... Any suggestions/tips on how to attach photos from my desktop? And opinions on whether to buy or not with the neck issue.

Welcome. I have no idea whether the CV-1 is similar enough to a CV-2 to apply lessons from a CV-1 to your purchase but this CV-1 is somewhat infamous around here because of the neck issues.

Simplest way for pics is to just press the Insert Image icon and then drag the picture from your computer to the "upload" window. When this doesn't work there is usually a problem with your image - wrong file type, too big in size, too much storage needed - and those are problems you can address with editing or conversion software

this neck issue is the main notorious and historical problem with these guitars. RayK knows a lot about them as he owned 1 or 2. They are great fingerstyle acoustics and I nearly bought one back in 2007 or 2008, its tone was awesome. but i just prefer dreads...

i also was going to buy one locally for like $500 that had the neck issue repaired. still passed. but that is more about me than the actual guitar.

good luck. the neck issue are totally reparable, but i just do not understand what happened in the overall construction of this model, why it struggled so.

Thanks guys

A lot of good information! I'm drawn to the orchestra size body and loved the feel of the neck. Even with the neck a little wonky I thought it played and sounded better than my Taylor 314. I'm still trying to make the pictures work but no success yet. I tend to think I should maybe let this one pass. The price is tempting ( $600) so that's why I was giving it so much consideration. Can you guys recommend some Guilds with a similar feel?
