Hi all. Wondering if anybody has removed their endpin jack from a Guild Artist Award Model? Mine has apparently developed either a loose wire, or perhaps the jack's contacts have simply stopped making solid contact with the plug of my guitar cord.
I had the tailpiece off once a couple years ago and recall that the endpin jack still felt very snug in place even with it's outer threaded-ring removed. Would appreciate any advice on the proper way to remove it. It's probably a good time to try it as the woods will have shrunk a bit now that were a month into the winter heating season. With the outer ring removed, does the jack simply push into the inside of the guitar body? (If so, hope I can get it back into it's drilled hole since I won't be able to push it thru with much force from inside the guitar. Perhaps it can be pulled into place (from the outside) with some kind of string or wire???
By the way, not related to this endpin issue, but I've installed a Benedetto S-6 floating pickup on an ebony Benedetto fingerrest. Need to spend some more time with it, but I do believe it has improved the amplified tone quite a bit. It's less "bright" sounding -- no longer have to dial the amp's treble down to zero. I simply drilled the Benedetto fingerrest to accept the standard Guild AA pickguard mounting screws and volume control as I'd never drill new holes into the guitar for something like this. (My original pickguard is intact with the Guild pickup still attached.)
Eventually, however, if I still prefer this S-6 pickup after some more playing time, I'll probably search for a Benedetto AA pickguard which appears to mount like the older Guild pickguards. Alternatively, I could have a tortoise pickguard made to match my original 1992 Guild AA style, but with 1/4 inch less cutout for the smaller S-6 pickup.

) this request for advice on the endpin jack. I was going by faulty memory from a couple years ago when I thought the jack fit tightly into the wood of the end block. It doesn't -- the hole in the end block is significantly larger than the threaded portion of the jack, and the jack is actually secured to the tailpiece by a thin nut that is easily removed once the tail piece is off the guitar. Anyhow, I've resoldered a new shielded wire between the volume control and the endpin jack and all is well.
