As Hans wrote in his book, the Guild company was registered in 1952, but was introduced to the market only in April 1953 as a new corporation (Guild book, p. 10). So 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of our beloved guitar maker. Happy birthday!

What would YOU wish for for this occasion? What new guitar models? Which reissues of famous traditional models would tickle your fancy (and your wallet!)? What else? One can dream, can't one?

I am sure the Guild guys will come up with some special anniversary models again, but not all of them will be to everybody's liking.

Here's what I would love to see:

1. Vol. 2 of Hans' book
2. A D-40 with the identical specs of the 63-66 D 40 (with the broader nut width), USA made
3. An F-20 Troubador NT with identical specs of the original 50s version, USA made

Can't wait to read what you dream of!

What I want, they wouldn't be able to build at an affordable price point (American made archtop) or flat out won't do (moustache headstock). Knowing Oxnard, all they'll do for this or any other anniversary is take a standard production model and give it a different finish.
Sorry to be a stick in the mud.

In more practical terms, I'd love to see the original F-body shape return (F-30 and F-47 would be a good start). That would be do-able and the guitar would likely sit in the same price range as current models.

Mikey, could you be a little more specific? :ROFLMAO: No seriously, I like your specs......that would be a beauty.

While "what would you like to see?" is interesting, a better question would be 'what would you actually buy, if it were available?" The diversity of interests on LTG is such that very few people actually agree and thus the chance of a set of specs actually being produced is low.

I understand that Guild is not a book publisher but Volume II would be enough. Maybe LTG tries to talk Hans into a Kickstarter?

An arched back D25 built like the ones they started with in 1973 and 1974. Not MIC.

Ya sorry about that West. I have been dreaming of something like this for a while. Basically I want something slightly larger than an OM with 1-3/4 nut, ebony and some nice appointments, but not over the top. Roughly like a Martin 0000, Santa Cruz OM Grand, or Guild F40/GF60 size.

Oxnard OM with ebony board, rosewood or mahogany, Sitka, 1.75 bone nut and saddle and pins, standard OM scale…simple, to the point. Basically a F-30 standard from 2010-2012 but with an ebony board.

By the way, a similar discussion happened end of 2021 and I liked dreadnut's proposal of "Smokey quartz fret markers and platinum binding." :)

15-1/2" would be the F30 size body. Make it a 16" lower bout and kick the current F40 imposter out of the seat.

Personally I've given up on Oxnard ever building a true F40/F7 or any 16" lower bout F-body.

‘And how about adding pre-COVID era quality control craftsmanship.

You are right Al, my F30s are 15 to 15-1-4, so maybe something closer to 15-3/4 to 16 is more accurate.

A run of made in the USA Studio ST-303 electrics would be a nice way to celebrate! Or a special run of acoustic M30s.
But like many of the people above, a volume II of @hansmoust 's book would be more than enough for me. I would be happy to contribute to a kickstarter for this!

A wood combination I’ve been thinking about lately is redwood over walnut. That would make for a damn sexy F30 or F40 size anniversary model. If not for the 70th then for the 75th!

I would love to see them come up with the following:

NEWLY IMAGINED D-30
- Ebony board & bridge ( they did it with the DCE3 in Westerly )
- Block inlays on the fretboard ( MOP )
- Chesterfield headstock like the first run
- Added oxblood / wine red color option w/ gold hardware

That would be snazzy.

U.S. MADE X-175
ARCHED BACK D-25 ( as outlined by WW in earlier entry )
