Aside from seeing Steffan again and meeting Jerry for the first time at the inaugural LTG Northwest Summit  a real highlight for me was to find a great little guitar shop in the Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver.

This is just the kind of shop we live to find wherever we happen to be on the road. It's been there since '84 and has just the right amount of character worked into the presentation. It's packed with goodies!! Individual rooms for a couple of individual makers. And it's just down the street from Steffan's daughter's place!

Any others out there to mention?

Joe

I'll stop at three, I promise, and it wouldn't be fair to leave out my old buddy, Ron Rondello, at Bellingham Music.

http://www.harris-music.com/html/harris/hhome.html

Ron has had three separate locations, three business names (used to be Harris Avenue Music and Harris Music), a fire, and a variety of other obstacles and snags in three decades, but he's still here with the local best.
And he's just 3 blocks away, now. :D

BTW, I scored my all-time favorite guitar, my D-50, as partial payment for remodeling his kitchen! :D

Life is good,
Joe

Big store for a small town family biz. Whopping inventory, dozens of Taylors. They don't have everything but come close. Busy shop, many long term employees, seems not many locals make the 45 minute journey to Guitar Center.

Music 6 was/is (?) an authorized Guild dealer, they sold a couple dozen Tacoma builts. Just recently 8 or 10 new Gibsons were hung on the high end wall. May be a tough road convincing them to stock Guilds again, they needed something to sell & it wasn't available from Guild.

Doyle Dykes has played here twice recently.

So far I haven't touched any of the new Gibsons, scary prices.

Well, Joe (and others up in the great Northwest), I stumbled on this little shop on an adventure up in the Emerald City (http://www.guitaremporium.com/). Granted they had a very limited variety, but they are pretty stocked with Larrivees. Anyway, tons of charm in a very quaint neighborhood.

OK, while you're in Seattle, might as well check out Dusty Strings. It's another good one. It's my son-in-law's favorite day trip to the big city!

Dusty Strings was my favorite guitar shop I found in Seattle, hands down. I also found it quite entertaining that they are located in a basement. :)
Great selection, but no Guilds. :? But I could just walk to the wall, pick up a $4000 Collings and go to town. How great is that! :D

I like dusty little shops and here is my local favorite: http://www.austinvintageguitars.com/site/Home.html

It is in the back of a strip mall, just buried from normal foot traffic. You walk in and it is like a mausoleum of old guitars ripe for the playing. They have a decent selection of old Guilds as well. There is an F30 there that I have been drooling over for almost a year. The shop while fun, is somewhat overpriced. The asking price of the F30 (that is in fair condition, but has no saddle left) is $1200!

If you ever find yourself in Gig Harbor, WA, check out All Star Guitar. Small store, somehow he still has a number of Tacoma Guilds (or did last time I was there) and Dan Wilson (the owner) is one of the cooler guys you'll ever meet.

Freddie is my MAN! while he may not have a whole lot of stock on hand, usually what he has is worth fondeling :D everytime i go in, theres something new to drool over.
come to think of it, ive boughten & sold many Martins thru him--my beloved DV-6 was found by him
& he & Doug are always fun just to shoot some bull with.
Both of them are honest, very knowledgeable, old-time luthiers (not sure if the word 'tech' befits such gentlemen)
ive trusted freddie with all my children & know that i can continue to.
