Congrats, they are great guitars :D

Interesting comparison. My friend asked me to go shopping with him at Elderly Instruments, which I gladly did. He tried lots of guitars, but he finally settled on the Martin D-16. It was about $4-500 cheaper than the Guild, which had a lot to do with his decision. Plus they have a huge inventory so we were able to sort through 7 of them and pick one. Beautiful sounding guitar. As pointed out by Metalman, they have the ring, they just don't have the bling. It would be great if you could keep them both though. And I gotta hand it to Martin for bringing an American made solid rosewood/spruce dread to market at that price, more power to 'em!

But enough about Martins...man I'd love to put one of those D-50's in the stable :D

Actually there's quite a range to the D16 line from Martin. I have the D16R, which is full gloss, split back (and I think slightly better sounding than the D16rgt, at least the two I played). The D16rgt is the satin finish, gloss top, about $500 cheaper then the D16R. The D16 mahoganys are even less for the D16gt and D16 (full gloss body). All fine guitars for the money, but all less than a Guild D50, which doesn't have any bling either (but, oh that red spruce top...... :D ).
