Yes, 1391 all right, New York 5 label.

Do you know of others from this period with a single-ply black pickguard?

Hello John,

You probably meant to write New York 3 label!

Yes, all the ones that I've seen so far had the single-ply black pickguard.

Here's a scan from the '54 catalog:

Thanks, Hans. All confirmed original.

And a sweetheart to play - the small body, and a neck that feels different, slicker somehow, than any of the other Guilds I've played.

Yes, I did mean New York 3, not 5.

Cheers,
John

That wall is running out of space...I can think of another dozen Guild models you should have and deserve....how about a Starfire?

Should have, for sure. Deserve, not so certain. Starfire might be a while - looking for an older F-40, perhaps a '50s X-500 (I'd sell my hybrid X-???), and I'd sure like to find a CA-100. First, though, to talk to my wife about why one wall full of guitars is not enough.

Good luck on getting another wall, JK.

Observe, friends, how many great guitars JK has on just one wall. Spatial economy, coupled with neatness and good decorating sense, is an excellent wife-management technique for the GAS-inflicted.

If you are a slob, like Zilla, it is better to hide your guitar stash away in the basement.

Later. Gotta go to moil.

It gets more than a little compromised by the presence now, thanks largely to the inspiration of Matsickma and Capnjuan, of a number of amplifiers in various states of repair.

They don't lend themselves to neat arrangement (I've not yet found the amplifier hanger equivalent of the Hercules hangers I mounted on that music bookshelf), by intention they make more noise and draw attention to themselves more often than the flattops, and it's substantially more difficult to keep the under-the-radar quiet, collected and neat approach.

"AAS" has not been discussed so often in this group, but I fear it's a fast rising affliction with me, and not quite so amenable to the tried and true GAS spouse-management techniques.
