Hello and good morning . Can any of you identify the type of glue this is ?

I know some of you have visited the Guild plants as well as having lots of knowledge over all about how guild built their guitars .

I'll play . . . it looks like epoxy to me.
That might be the case especially as we talk a composite material here. It was only used in the Tacoma factory in that case.

By the way @Rayk , great videos showing how you took her appart and how that all looks!

My guess is it is one of two adhesives: Titebond or Hide Glue, and I am thinking Titebond. Hide (or Fish) Glue has a brown-ish hue to it, similar to epoxy, maybe not quite as glossy. Titebond is clear-er, perhaps tinged with a bit of yellow. All the above, with the exception of epoxy, will release with the application of heat. The animal protein glues (Hide, Fish) will also release with just moisture.

Of course, I suppose they could have epoxied the fingerboard on, but I would be surprised.

Thank you , I thought of hide glue but I’d just be guessing .

The reason I asked is if the graphite rails I posted in the pics is epoxy the heat needed to soften it would around 150-160 degrees and that will soften the finger board glue .

The other issue is what type of epoxy is it ?

Adding heat to some types will have the opposite effect instead of softening it will make it harder .

interesting to say the least . 🤔
