Don't care what they are. What do you like?

Some chords/tab would help.

I'm in acoustic mode with the recent DV52 acquisition so it's time to expand my repertoire a bit.

Messed around with this one some today. Sans slide though. Fun.

My gosh, Q, where's a body to start? That's a huge request!
Fingerpicking, flatpicking.......? What's your pleasure?
Are you a singer of songs or an instrumentalist, or both?

If you're a lyrics junkie like me, go to chordie.com and choose any John Prine song for starters, and then go nuts.

Q,

Just google John Prine! You can't go wrong with any of his stuff!! It will sound great on that DV52! Start with "Spanish Pipedream" and finish with "Lake Marie". No tabs needed, just GCD and a lot of heart!!

I left it wide open on purpose thinking some of you would name stuff that immediately comes to mind and I'd have a good variety of new stuff to check out.

Doesn't really matter what you suggest, but I'm not playing out anywhere, don't really sing, would rather not have to change tunings drastically, and currently do not own a capo. Does that help?

I'm probably going to start investigating a bit of bluegrass so someone might have suggestions in that direction. Folk, country, whatever. Not much into spiritual stuff but I'm mainly interested in sampling a wider variety than the music I listen to, and most of you geezers here don't listen to anything I do. I'm surprised no one has said The Beatles yet. Jeez!

try the acoustic version of "Everlong" by the foo fighters....drop d tuning...it's not as easy as it sounds as you have to be aware of when you actually play the drop d...

nice song, though, and easy to augment to your own style

youtube the video to see how Dave plays it....

You just posted this yesterday, what's your hurry?
There's a big, wide, wonderful world of music out there, just waiting for you and that new DV52. Go get 'em tiger!

John Denver, James Taylor, Neil Young, Paul Simon, and, oh yeah, the Beatles

Joe

**Try Time of Your Life by Green Day for some great acoustic sound. :D

-Qvart,

Look at some of these songs. This is were I find most of the songs that I sing, play and perform. Many are old songs, and I like listening to see if there is anything that I can do with them. I sing and play a good number of Folk Songs from English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish Origin. I play most of these with a Full Capo and a Cut Capo.

Q,

Going off of your Beta Band interest, I have always liked Radiohead songs as good acoustic rock strumming songs. There is a pretty good acoustic version of "Creep" that uses all barre chords.

This is not as much of a throwback as the Beatles, but Nirvana's unplugged album has some nice, well maybe depressing, acoustic stuff.

Try Never Going Back again by Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac). Very tricky fingerpicking with some big stretches and drop D tuning with the capo at the 3rd fret. You'll love it once you get the hang of it.

Q,
One of my favorite Dylan songs. Just repeat the chord progression throughout. Have fun...

Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door - Dylan

G D Am
Mama, take this badge off of me
G D C
I can't use it anymore.
G D Am
It's gettin' dark, too dark for me to see
G D C
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin' down
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door

Some difference in age... If not familiar with it, here's my feeble Soundclick offering: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=7224070

Knockin on Heaven's Door is one I do know.

As for the age difference - good thing there's Guns 'n' Roses! (just kidding)

Thanks!
