Finally had some spare time to mount the String Swing 5 guitar racks. Wanted to place on adjacent walls but 1 of the only 2 walls large enough is poured concrete. Yup, poured concrete. I found the old blueprints a few months back and referred to them to see what the heck was going on. There is a fireplace above and behind and the good Dr. who built the home had the stone brought in from New Hampshire where his dad was a stone cutter...heavy chit! You can see the chimney ash clean out under the two jumbos. Tapcons would not hold so I ran them side by side, not ideal and I'm not thrilled that I lost 7' or wall space in a small room...yeah I know poor me!

Install was easy for me but if you're not handy with tools it can be interesting. The rail doesn't come pre-drilled, which is smart as you can place it anywhere along stud lines after you find studs, (I actually measured the adjacent boiler room studs). Place rail where you hope to mount it, with at least 2 studs, (I have three), they call for a 4' level, I used a 2' on top of the rail and drew the level line, mark stud locations on aluminum wall mount, (use magic marker), drill 6 holes to line up w/studs and mount. You really need to go direct to studs...especially if you want to sleep at night!!

I have a nice punch which makes it easier to drill through metal...keeps the bit from roaming. The end caps are a real pita. They are held on by two sided tape and combining fat fingers and 62 year old eyesight and some type of adhesive that could hold an elephant....lets just say I'll figure out another way to adhere the last two end caps. I got lucky with the first set, the second?? Not so lucky...there was some cursing and cut fingers trying to pry second side open with knife, raor , ghinzu blade

Otherwise a very well made and thought out system, but the plastic clips for the bottom could be a bit stouter.

So the line up: JF-30-12, F-412, DV-52, the world's finest D-40, D-26 and a flat back Cherry D-25. There is plenty of room to pull the guitars out but I wouldn't put more than six on.

Next: Songbird, F-4CE, F-20, F-30. Place holder $15 strat copy, 3/5 Madeiras and 2 of 4 hydrometers, (yeah nervous in Upstate NY, rest of house is low 30%).

Never noticed the big size difference between the Songbird and the F-4CE.

The Westerly OM-140 is on the floor stand until I receive the other 2 hangers....one of which will be empty......:devilish:

Oh, there is my old Dobro beneath my Wechter HD-28 clone, (actually a rather fabulous guitar).

Looks lousy right now but I have an old Bokhara run and some flea market/garage sale wood chairs plus a few pix to hang...as well as a surprise!. My wife has a tv for me but I don't think I have room or desire for it in there.

Hope to have it updated later today!

That reminds me, I need to compare the A-2 size wise to the F-20 or F-30. Pix later!

It really is, It's far enough away and pretty soundproof to the upstairs due to the bunker type construction. I was doodling w/the Wechter and then the Westerly.....that little 140 really sounds great.

Yeah just gotta figure a few spaces.for photos and one other item then I'll finish up.

Bonneville, your D-25 displays are what turned me on to the String Swing!!!

I just realized I do have too many, the F-212 is under my bed!!!!! Ok, Maybe I do an F Body rack, with the other 6 on the second rack.

But actually I have less than I used to, sold the Orph, NH-512, D-70 and 2 surprisingly nice sounding 12 strings, an Ovation and Sigma. I will admit the 5 Maderias are a bit of an issue but the boss will allow a few in other rooms as they don't need humidification. I just happened to run into them and they were dirt cheap, plus I like 'em.

I still have to get my old Ibanez 12'er in there . I was thinking of putting that and the A-2 together, I've owned each going on 40 + years now...as well as the Dobro...wowee!......getting old!

There are probably half I could live without and need to contemplate selling, the F-412, D-25, F-20, DV-52 & Songbird.

What is kind of neat is the way they all hum to each other, they all pick up vibrations from me If I tap something or playing and they all ring a bit when I stop...almost ethereal.

Well that’s pretty cool . I just randomly grab a guitar and buy it without to much thought of who made it well a little thought . Lmao .
