getting the hang of it

Guy plays one of these in a group that has been to the 'Oak' a couple of times - a really interesting percussion instrument with a unique sound. Any-one else met one :?:

Sounds like an interesting instrument. The production/selling seems a bit quirky. I'm guessing it's not the day job of the two people who make them.
